Articles of Faith

Article I- God

We believe in the one true, holy and living God, Eternal Spirit who is Creator,Sovereign and Preserver of all things visible and invisible.

Article II- Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man, in whom we see divine and human natures are perfectly and inseparably knited.

Article III- The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who proceeds from and is one in being with the Father and the Son.

Article IV- The Holy Bible

We believe the Holy Bible, Old and New Testament reveals the word of God so far as it is necassary for our salvation.

Article V- The Church

We believe the Christian Church is the community of all true believers under the Lordship of Christ.

Article VI- The Sacraments

Symbols and pledges of the Christian's profession and of God's love for us.  (Baptism and Communion)

 

DEFINITIONS

Prelude- The prelude is a time for people to become quiet, to meditate and pray, and to prepare their hearts individually for the worship of God.

Call To Worship- Declaring that the Lord is present and empowers our worship.

The Apostles'  Creed- written by early followers of Jesus; the Apostles' Creed is crafted in the form of a confessional statement of Christian belief.

Prayer of Confession- the people confess the sin of which they are already aware and then come to the Proclamation of the Word in the assurance of God's pardoning grace.

The Gloria Patri- is a doxology sung after scripture reading to remind us that our chief, our supreme, our ultimat purpose in life is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.

Doxology- a short statment of prais, glory, and thanksgiving to God.  It is often a short hymn desigbed to be sung by the worshipping congregation.

Benediction- "a good saying or word" spoken by the pastor and addressed to the congregation, it is used to dismiss the congregation at the end of worship.

Postlude- the musical selection played or sung at the conclusion of a service of worship.  The postlude generally follows a benediction given by the pastor or other worship leaders.
